UPTOWN ASSOCIATION SURVEY
August & September, 2009
A survey was distributed reaching out to business leaders, residents, and other Uptown stakeholders to gather feedback about how we can best meet the community’s needs.
Data will inform future UA programming and initiatives. Based on feedback, the Uptown Association will continue to focus on promoting Uptown and increasing your business. Results also reflected a desire for programs in the areas of community promotion, economic development, business promotion and marketing, and community activities/events/partnerships. Thank you to respondents for providing this valuable feedback.
INNOVATIVE GRAFFITI PREVENTION MICRO-GRANT
Awarded, May 15
From City of Minneapolis
As a result of this grant, the Community Affairs Committee of the UA created a multi-faceted program that would effectively and creatively remove existing graffiti, prevent future graffiti and educate the public about how graffiti hurts an entire community. One of the components was an art project. During the 2009 Uptown Art Fair in August, visitors had an opportunity to be a part of the graffiti prevention grant by creating their own tile artwork that depicted their vision of a safe and beautiful community. The tiles, supplies and firing were provided by the Northern Clay Center of Minneapolis. A total of 355 tiles were made during the three day art fair by participants from 14 states and 6 countries including the USA, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, France and Israel. For more information about this project and other events and programming sponsored by the Uptown Association call us at 612-823-4581 or email us.
